Tarp and secure the same day where possible
24/7 emergency availability on the Ocala line, 352-664-8887. Say the roof is open and which room is wet.
Ocala takes storms in open country: straight-line wind across pasture, frequent summer lightning, and tropical storm force gusts when a system like Milton crosses Marion County. Brehm crews were in Ocala the day after Milton tarping and repairing, and that is still how we work a storm here. Ocala line: 352-664-8887.

Hurricane Milton crossed Florida on October 9 and 10, 2024, and Marion County took tropical storm force wind with gusts well above that in exposed areas. The day after Milton, Brehm crews were in Ocala installing emergency tarps, making minor repairs, and walking homeowners through next steps. What we saw that week is the pattern for Ocala storm damage generally: open exposure in Silver Springs Shores, Marion Oaks and the SR 200 corridor means wind reaches the roof edge with nothing to slow it, so eave and rake shingles lift first, ridge caps with exposed fasteners go next, and wind-driven rain follows under whatever has moved.
The roof's age decides the rest. The 1960s to 1980s concrete block ranches that fill the Shores and Marion Oaks have low pitches and shingles that may be on their third summer past any seal strength; those lose tabs across whole slopes. The 1990s and 2000s homes in On Top of the World, Oak Run and the rest of the SR 200 communities were often built in volume with three-tab shingles that are now at the end of their service life and lift along the rakes. Historic district roofs around Fort King Street are steep metal that holds up well in wind but can lose a seam or a chimney counterflashing. Horse farm barns northwest of town are their own category: large metal roofs with long screw lines where a loose panel edge becomes a sail.
The first visit is about stopping water and preserving the file. We tarp and secure the opening, photograph the damage, the debris and the attic side before anything is moved, and date everything in CompanyCam. Then we write two scopes. One is what the storm damaged, in the language your insurance adjuster expects. The other is what the roof already needed. Keeping them separate is how we keep a claim honest, and it is also how we keep you from being surprised when the carrier covers the storm damage but not the twenty-year-old roof around it.
Brehm holds Florida certified roofing license CCC1336098 and general contractor license CRC1334991, carries general liability and workers' compensation, and is an Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor. On a Marion County storm job that means fascia, decking and structural repairs happen on the same permit, and a replacement, if the damage justifies one, qualifies for the manufacturer's extended warranty options and comes with the wind-mitigation photos your carrier wants. Permits inside the city go through the City of Ocala Building Department; the Shores, Marion Oaks and the SR 200 corridor go through Marion County Building Safety.
The honest version: most Ocala storm calls after Milton were repairs. Lifted eave shingles, a torn ridge cap, a tarp over a limb puncture. We repaired those, we did not file replacement claims on them, and we told homeowners whose roofs were already past their service life that a carrier would likely see it the same way. If your roof needs to be replaced, we will say so with photos. If it needs a repair, that is what you will be quoted.
Homes we work on in Ocala: 1890s to 1930s frame homes in the Ocala Historic District, 1960s to 1980s concrete block ranches across Silver Springs Shores and Marion Oaks, 1990s to 2010s homes in the SR 200 corridor communities including On Top of the World and Oak Run, and barns and outbuildings on the horse farms northwest of town.

Dated photos of the damage, the debris, the ridge and the attic side, in CompanyCam, so your carrier has a clean file.
Storm damage in the adjuster's language, and pre-existing wear as a separate document with its own number.

Talk with BrehmStorm repairs that do not go through a claim are priced like any Brehm repair: $825 to $4,950 for most homes in Ocala, depending on whether it is a few resealed shingles or a section of decking and covering. If the damage justifies a replacement, we say so with photos and quote that instead.
Isolated lifted shingles with intact seal around them are a repair, and we quote it as one. Shingles lifted across a whole slope because the seal strip had let go is a roof at the end of its life, and a carrier will usually see it that way. We show you a lift test on the field so the decision is based on the roof, not a sales goal.
Yes. We offer 24/7 emergency availability on the Ocala line, 352-664-8887, and crews run the US 441 and I-75 corridor from our shop daily. After Milton in October 2024 we were tarping in Ocala the next day. A tarp is temporary protection; the permanent scope is a separate document with its own number.
Yes, when you want us to. We bring the dated photos and the written storm scope, walk the roof with the adjuster, and point to what the storm did. We do not argue a replacement on a roof that needs a repair, and adjusters know it, which tends to make the storm damage itself easier to get approved.
Yes. Horse farm barns northwest of Ocala carry large screw-down metal roofs where a loose panel edge becomes a sail. We re-secure the panel, replace backed-out fasteners with the correct gasketed screws along the run, and check the adjacent panels so the next gust does not find the next loose edge.
Under the Florida Building Code, when more than 25 percent of a roof section is repaired or replaced within 12 months, the whole section must be brought to current code, with an exemption for roofs already built to the 2007 code or later. We tell you which side of that line your roof is on before the scope is written.
Tarping needs no permit. Deck replacement and re-roofing do. Addresses inside the Ocala city limits permit through the City of Ocala Building Department; Silver Springs Shores, Marion Oaks, On Top of the World, Oak Run and most of the SR 200 corridor are unincorporated and go through Marion County Building Safety. We confirm the office and pull it.
