Shingle Roof Replacement in Alachua, FL
A single-story home with a hip roof on a small fenced lot in Alachua, re-roofed in late April 2026. The worn brown shingles came off down to the wood deck, and the new roof is Owens Corning Oakridge in Estate Gray, the line and color printed on the bundle wrappers in the job photos.

What you are looking at
The first drone photo looks across the back deck toward the street. The rear slope rises to a point in the middle, and past it two front-facing gable sections, one over the garage and one over the front room, meet the main roof at valleys. Seen from straight overhead in the second photo, the hip and valley lines cross near the center of the house.
The shingle reads as a gray blend. In the close frame the individual tabs range from charcoal to a pale gray with a faint green cast, set in a staggered pattern that keeps the big flat planes from looking plain. Every hip is finished with cap shingles, the folded pieces that cover the line where two slopes meet.
The vents changed along with the shingles. Early April photos of the old roof show silver metal box vents on weathered brown shingles. The new roof has long, low black box vents near the top of several slopes and round black hoods where exhaust ducts come through. Box vents let hot attic air escape through a covered opening in the deck, which counts for a lot under the Florida sun.
The installation photos show what sits under the shingles. After tear-off the bare wood deck was exposed, and the crew cut out and measured a few sections of it. A gray synthetic underlayment then covered the whole deck, and white metal drip edge was nailed along the eaves. Drip edge is the bent strip at the roof edge that sends water into the gutter instead of behind it.
The side view shows how close the houses sit here, with a neighbor's roof running along the bottom of the frame and a wood privacy fence around the back yard. Out front, a magnolia was in bloom when the drone went up on a clear late April morning, and its white flowers frame the entry in the last photo.
