A Fresh Onyx Black Roof Ready for Late-Summer Florida Weather
Late August in Central Florida means plenty of heat, afternoon rain, and more wet weather still ahead. For this home, that weather will now be hitting a newly completed roofing system.
We recently finished this approximately 34-square roof replacement using Owens Corning Duration shingles in Onyx Black, giving the home a bold new look while restoring the protection overhead.

Onyx Black creates a strong contrast against lighter exterior colors and gives the home a clean, modern appearance. The dimensional pattern of the architectural shingles keeps the finished roof from appearing flat, even with such a dark color.

White Drip Edge Creates a Clean Border
For this project, white drip edge was installed around the roof perimeter.
Against the black shingles, that white edge creates a crisp transition between the roof and the rest of the home. Black boots, vents, and paint were then used across the roof itself, allowing those components to coordinate with the Onyx Black shingles.
They’re relatively small details, but together they make the finished roof look complete.
